Cancer Shelter Visits
Project Overview
Regular visits bringing care, creativity, and resilience to children battling cancer.
The Full Story
At the Inara Foundation, our regular visits to the CanKids Cancer Shelter are a heartfelt ritual of care and resilience. Over the months of March and April, we began our engagement with interactive science activity sessions, turning treatment days into moments of curiosity and laughter. Our volunteers conducted fun, hands-on experiments and shared fresh fruits and homemade treats, bringing joy while nurturing both body and mind. On May 15, we introduced storytelling sessions to offer emotional comfort and spark imagination. A collaborative effort with Sujit Mahapatra Sir from the Bakul Foundation filled the room with warmth and wonder, rekindling the inner child in everyone present. During June and July, we hosted a Ramp Walk to celebrate the children's incredible journeys. Cheers and applause from our volunteers made every child feel seen and valued, and the day ended on a sweet note with homemade waffles lovingly prepared by one of our volunteers. We continued the celebration with creative collage-making, games, crafts, and dancing, filling every corner with laughter and joy. The children made bracelets and other crafts, adding their own spark of creativity to each piece. Our visits culminated in a Rakhi-Making Workshop on July 24, where children and parents came together to craft beautiful rakhis with love. These were later sent to the brave hearts of the Indian Army, spreading the children's happiness far beyond the shelter. This ongoing journey of connection, creativity, and care continues to reaffirm our belief that small acts of kindness can make a world of difference.
